Barry Bona

BARRY BONA lives and works in Tambre, in the region of Alpago -BL-. He is son of art: at his home, there has always been his grandfather’s and father’s sculptures and this encouraged him to attend the Art Academy in Venice, with excellent marks.
His sculpture is related to his way of living the nature and of dealing with its difficulties.
For the artist, sculpture is like a science and what is born from a stone or a trunk causes emotions. You can feel these emotions also into modern forms, but it’s through the figurative that you can feel the strongest ones.
When the sculptor tries to synthetize a form, he imagines it inside an enveloping sock and his movements create forms, which are focused and exalted and they become pure poetry.
But his dreams and his memories chase each other, also among the folds of a steep wall of rock; indeed, the other Barry’s passion is climbing. Climbing on the Dolomites, on the Western Alps, on the icefalls in Canada and Colorado. But his most satisfying conquest is near home, among the mountains of Alpago, visible in every moment of adventure wish.
Listening him makes you gasp. Living an adventure means for him looking inside himself and breathing with open mind. And “when you’re on the top and you reached the aim, the real emotion is your dream that became truth and the wish to do it again as soon as possible”.
This is his artistic and alpinist research. “It’s when the statue is done, that you start again doing it and when it will go out of the laboratory and will go in the world, it will be its duty to tell what I wanted to say. The sculpture will be my mouthpiece”.
